10 November 2026, Tuesday is the reference date for New Delhi. Every timing in this guide is for New Delhi, India (IST, UTC+5:30). It is not an all-India or worldwide timing.

New Delhi reference timing

6:40–8:50 AM IST

This is the reference puja window. Date and timing reference (checked October 27, 2026).

Do not assume it is November 9

For New Delhi, Govardhan Puja is listed on November 10, 2026, even though the main Diwali celebration is November 8. The observance follows the relevant lunar tithi rather than an automatic next-day rule. The referenced Pratipada begins November 9 at 12:31 PM and ends November 10 at 2:00 PM IST. That is why a civil-date checklist copied from another year can mislead families.

What Annakut brings to the celebration

Govardhan Puja recalls Krishna’s protection of the community in the Govardhan tradition. Annakut centres on offering prepared food with gratitude. At home, choose a manageable selection of dishes rather than feeling obliged to reproduce a temple-scale display. Ask which ingredients and preparation rules your family follows, and keep the prayer area separate from the busy cooking area.

Prepare a practical food plan

Write the menu, check ingredients and divide tasks the previous day. Choose dishes that can be finished in time for your household programme. Keep cooked food covered and serve portions thoughtfully. If friends are coming, ask about their dietary requirements before finalising the menu. Arrange containers so food can be shared after the offering without avoidable waste.

Home programme or temple programme?

A temple’s Annakut darshan may be held on a timetable chosen for that community. Confirm its date, entry arrangements and offering guidelines directly. Do not assume that the morning household window below is the public darshan time. At home, follow the representation, prayer and offering sequence customary in your family; a formal or unfamiliar ritual is best discussed with your priest.

Coordinate the rest of the week

Keep the Bhai Dooj travel and meal plan separate from the Annakut preparations. With several gatherings close together, agreeing on responsibilities and guest numbers is often more useful than adding another elaborate decoration. Share the correct date and city with relatives when sending invitations.

Check the Panchang for your location

Open the CosmosPandit web app, select your city and the relevant date, and review the Panchang. Confirm the location before using the displayed information. For a particular family ritual, ask your local temple or priest if the applicable window is unclear. Converting Delhi’s clock time to another time zone does not establish a local puja muhurat.
